Because our resources are very limited, we generally seek to develop projects which are either self-sustaining or can be hived off to operate as an independent entity.
Because our resources are very limited, we generally seek to develop projects which are either self-sustaining or can be hived off to operate as an independent entity. In 2014, one of our earliest projects was support for a monthly meditation class which was particularly popular for people in recovery from addiction. In 2014 we set up and supported Pilgrim Street, an alternative model of church for people on the margins of established Christianity. This met for nearly three years but ended in 2017.
Other work we have supported has included a cooking and friendship project for isolated women, young carers, providing fruit for nursery children, a church-based holiday hunger project, a carers choir, socially inclusive cafés, a Real Junk Food Project and Christmas hampers for families. Most recently we have provided funding for St Nicholas Cathedral in Newcastle to allow a group of asylum seekers and refugees to meet, cook and eat together.
We seek to provide advice, help and sometimes financial support to other charities and projects within the geographical area in which we work but because we are a very small charity and resources are limited we do not accept any unsolicited applications or requests for money.
Organisations and individuals whose work comes to the attention of the trustees are considered for support as and when resources allow.
